3 Reasons for Building Your Email List

If you are like me, listening to podcasts 24/7 you’ve heard it a thousand times… “build your list”. They are talking about your email list and the importance of developing it as a small business owner. You may be wondering – who the heck cares, no one want to subscribe to my newsletter and I have no idea what I’d even send to them if they did! But sorry friend, it is SUCH an essential part of the growth of your business. Let’s break down 3 simple reasons as to why it is important to focus on growing your email list as an entrepreneur.

1. You own your list.

Everyone is hung up on followers – Striving for huge numbers and huge gains on their instagram and facebook accounts.

But guess what? You don’t own those numbers. If instagram went away tomorrow, how would you connect with those 20k followers?

That’s the beauty and the necessity of your list – You have your true fans’ emails. You own those emails. You have the power to send whatever your little heart desires to those emails. And your tribe will soak it up. And they’ll still be around through the twists and turns, ups and downs of social media.

2. You have something of value to offer your list.

Your subscribers have given you permission to come into their lives through their inbox every week.

They want to hear from you, they want to know what value you can provide to them – how you can serve them. And trust me, you definitely have something of value to share with your list. Be yourself and be authentic and just share your message and your thoughts. It doesn’t have to be a sales pitch every time, in fact, it’s better if it’s not. Focus more on what you can offer your list verses what they can give you. Find your niche, speak to that ideal client or customer and build your tribe.

3. Your list keeps you in front of your ideal audience.

Do you know how few of your audience actually sees your posts of social media? The numbers are surprisingly low and I’m sure we’ve all felt the struggle of getting engagement and traction with our posts.

Well with emails, you are going directly to your target audience, directly to the people who are most likely to become your true fans, your customers.

You aren’t competing with an algorithm in their inbox. And you are building a more loyal customer base who is excited to hear what you have to say next.

I know the reasons are probably pretty obvious when I lay it out this way, but that’s just how obvious it should be that your email list needs to be a number one priority as your grow your brand and work to expand your reach.
